HB1459    Regulate Reptiles. Amendment to the current venomous reptile regulation by adding nonvenemous reptiles to the regulations such as Pythons and Monitor lizards. Also, increases bond to $10,000.00.Introduced by Poppell.

SJR 2680  Constitutional amendment to create Cabinet office of Director of Interior for supervision of matters pertaining to state's natural resources, create Interior Dept. to be responsible for conserving & protecting natural resources & scenic beauty of state, & abolish FWC; provides effective date of January 6, 2009, for creation of Cabinet office of Director of Interior, etc. Sponsored by Posey.

SB2460 Fla. HB4820  Regulates the sale and possession of exotic animals. Sponsored By Delegates Stemple, Swartzmiller and Crosier.

Federal Legislation

PAWS 2005 HR2669 & S1139  Amends the animal welfare act and would place hobby pet breeders under USDA jurisdiction.

Captive Wildlife Safety Act       Regulations to implement act. The current version prohibits private pet owners from moving across state lines with their exotic pets regulated under this law.

Captive Primate Safety Act        Primates would be included under the CWSA. See S1509 & HR1329

Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act - (S.1926 & HR4239) Provide Judicial authority to prosecute and convict individuals harming animal enterprises.
